Koroua and Kuia Services

Kaumātua and kuia day programme

The aim of this service is to provide a safe interactive space for Kaumātua and Kuia to remain active and independent whilst having the ability to socialise and age positively within a Kaupapa Maori setting where they are highly valued and recognised as an integral part of whānau and communities.

The day programme aims to help reduce social isolation and reconnect them with their peers, whanau and community to create a sense of belonging. It focuses on three areas: Age related Health Education, with easier access, fitness and mobility, and the opportunity to explore and participate in Te Ao Māori.

Participants take part in activities, outings and workshops – everything from learning about Traditional Māori Arts and Crafts, medicine, and visiting local marae and historical sites, to taking part in exercise and listing to presentations given by agencies.

Our Kaumātua Day Programme is held every Tuesday and Thursday from 9.00am to 2.00pm and transport, morning tea and lunch is also provided.
